Firewire Surfboard Construction
Sam Lamiroy UK professional surfer and Firewire team Rider has spent some time over the last few years with the guys at Firewire over in the States. Chuy Reyna an ex pro surfer who is heavily involved with all the R&D behind these boards has taught Sam all he knows about each construction and design. We managed to track Sam down between surfs to give us this fantastic description about the boards.
Sam’s range of boards includes an alternator and dominator amongst others.
The video covers all the Firewire Technologies available, FST (FUTURE SHAPES TECHNOLOGY), Rapidfire (Bamboo lamination) and Direct Drive (Solid Carbon rod core).

Snowboarding Protection

Xcel – Presents Airprene
Xcel wetsuits have won the SIMA Wetsuit of the year competition for their Infinity drylock 5mm winter wetsuit.

This wetsuit complete with its Drylock zipper system helps keep you warm and reduces flushing so you remain Toasty in the coldest conditions. The placement of the front mounted zip makes movement in the suit excellent as the back is one large panel.
The Infinity drylock uses the Xcel Bamboo Barrier in the chest which uses recycled materials which are turned into yarns to produce the warm chest barrier. New for this year is Airprene, we all know that your arm air stands up when your cold to try and trap warm air around the body to keep you warm. Airprene uses a similar pricipal, by trapping warm air in small pockets throughout the suit the warmer you remain.
If you need that surf fix in the coldest months of January / February then look at the hooded version which almost prevents water flushing 100% as the neck seal is so much higher.
